Tydes American Eatery
drewChef Drew Loesch opens Tydes American Eatery in Lumina Station
Located in the space which was previously occupied by Opus and Fathoms, the newly remodeled space is currently open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Chef Loesch having already won the Best Chef in Wilmington while at Salty's is gearing up once again to secure this accolade.
In a recent Word of Mouth review, User Melissa B. wrote "My husband & I were passing through Wilmington and decided to stop for dinner.  We found Tydes, by looking for something else and decided to give them a try. WOW I am so glad we did.  Our server was Andrea, from Kentucky and she was great.  They were really busy on a Thursday, but the food was wonderful and so was the service.  A must again when we are in Wilmington."

Coming Soon
steakSurf's Up on Market Street
Coming in June, a new restaurant concept, Surf's, will occupy the vacated Wilmington Ale House location in the Promenade Center at the corner of Eastwood Road and Market Street. According to the new General Manager, Henry Minutillo, "we have a unique concept that will astound Wilmingtonians. The new restaurant will utilize an extended 50 person capacity dining bar which houses a central grill for fresh prepared surf and turf." Minutillo further explained that "you can watch your grilled dinner prepared in front of your eyes and coordinated with sides from the kitchen. With a family friendly comfortable dining area, the bar is a nice alternative- part hibachi and part open kitchen - making for a unique indoor grilling experience."  The restaurant partners are renovating the entire space and are very mindful of providing a great experience at a great price with everything on the menu freshly prepared to order.  They will also offer a regular daily specials board and will be open daily from 11:00am till 1am.

Making the Grade
imagesIn a recent article article entitled "Sanitation Scores" which appeared in the April 18 - May 1 edition of the Wilmington Business Journal, I have attempted to explain and demystify the sanitation scoring system. Without a basic knowledge of how and what comprise the sanitation scores, it becomes a number equivalent to a Scarlett letter. I have heard many stories from consumers that have walked out restaurants because of a poor score - it should be a red flag of caution but, without an explanation as to what points were lost and why, the consumer can be misled and severe damage inflicted on a restaurant without cause.
