Bear Rock Café There’s nothing better than a massive hearth fireplace, hot soup, warm bread and sinful sweets. Sound like your grandma’s cabin in the mountains? Bear Rock Café comes pretty close but offers a more grandiose menu than anyone’s grandmother could fathom. What started as a small, locally-owned business in Raleigh, North Carolina has grown into a successful franchise, finding itself in two different Wilmington locations. Ever since, it’s been one of Wilmington’s most sought-after lunch spots. No matter how complex the palette, this quick-casual spot has something for every foodie: pizzetas, garden fresh salads, baked potatoes, daily soup specials, robust coffees, specialty sandwiches, flatbread creations, veggie delights and a kids menu. If that’s not enough (your majesty) you can create your own sandwich or salad. As if it were your own kitchen, the possibilities are endless! Never has a public place been more comfortable and inviting than bear Rock Café. With all the trimmings of a nature-inspired romp through the mountains, Bear Rock envelops you with that “no place like home” feeling. Tables and booths are scattered like sofas through a cozy den. The guests huddle in groups around menus. The centerpiece, a stone fireplace that spans about 14 ft with cushions and sizzling logs, is immense and beautiful—enough to make Oprah envious. If the hearth is the heart of a home, then this gastronomical treasure has a powerful pulse.
