Big Plans for Kefi

Some big changes are on the horizon for Wrightsville Beach’s favorite watering hole.  And not just a watering hole at that, Kefi’s renovations will begin to move them closer toward a restaurant, while still maintaining the “tried and true” Kefi bar and venue it has always been.  Progress toward this goal began on the 18th of February and is planned to continue until around March 5th.  It seems like a long stretch, however in the interest of the customers, Kefi plans to stay open during most of the renovation process, with only a few days being scheduled for a complete closing of the building.

        DineWilmingtonOnline.com sat down with Jake, the General Manager who was glad to give us a sneak peak as to what we should expect after the project is complete. 

     New lights, new décor inside, fresh interior paint job, general redecorating of the walls and passage ways, including talk of knocking down a wall to provide more dining space and a better view of the stage.  Jake noted that we can also expect to see more seating outside for the upcoming spring season, as well as live entertainment planned for the outside area on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  Among all of these changes, none will be as highly anticipated as Kefi’s decision to go smoke free!  In light of the recent restaurant movement to go non-smoking and the growing health concerns in the community, Kefi will be pleased to offer its guests a 100% smoke free inside atmosphere as of March 5th.  If you are a smoker, you may be thinking that you are getting the short end of the stick, but what you don’t know is that Kefi also plans to redesign the outdoor area to cater to smokers, giving them an area designed to accommodate to their needs as well.
         Another addition associated with the health conscious lifestyle will be the unveiling of a few new menu items, such as health conscious sandwiches and entrees.   With all these changes planned, it’s important to know that Kefi has made it very clear that they will stay true to their roots, still offering the favorite local bands, great food,  cold beer and good times that they have always been known for.  Also this season, expect a great line up of fundraisers, themed events, and now even comedy routines.   For more information on events, be sure to check the Kefi website at Kefilive.com.
Remember that Kefi opens at 6am EVERY morning with their famous “2-2-2” (2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon and 2 pancakes), “Working Man” (fresh grits, golden hashbrowns, and eggs), and of course wide selection of hearty omelettes.  Not to mention mimosas, bloodmaries, and orange blossoms if you so desire.  During these renovation days, please call Kefi at 256-3558 to see what days specifically the restaurant will be closed, as the renovation schedule is still subject to change.
